XM Cashback Explained — Where the $9/Lot Actually Comes From
The short answer: every time you trade with XM you pay a spread. XM shares part of that spread with its official partners as commission — and CashBackXM returns most of that commission to you as a fixed dollar amount per lot: $9.00 per lot on Gold (Standard account), credited automatically to your XM MyWallet the day after each order closes. Your spreads, execution, and account stay exactly the same.
Where the money comes from
Cashback is not a bonus, a promotion, or money conjured from nowhere. It has a precise source:
- You pay a spread on every order — on Gold, roughly $20 per standard lot. This is a normal fee every broker charges.
- XM pays partner commission. When your account is registered under a partner code, XM shares part of that spread with the partner. This happens whether or not you use a cashback service — the only question is who keeps it.
- CashBackXM returns it to you. Because your account carries partner code CBT90, the commission flows through CashBackXM and the published share is credited back to your XM MyWallet.
That is the whole mechanism. Nothing is added to your costs, because the commission exists inside the spread you were already paying.
The exact rates per lot
The rebate is a fixed dollar amount per closed lot. It depends on the instrument and the account type — not on your profit or loss:
Standard account
| Instrument | Cashback / 1 lot |
|---|---|
| Gold (XAUUSD) | $9.00 |
| XAUEUR | $9.00 |
| BTCUSD | $10.60 |
| EURUSD · AUDUSD · USDJPY · USDCAD | $4.80 |
| GBPUSD · GBPJPY and most crosses | $5.30 |
| EURCHF · EURNZD · GBPCAD · GBPCHF · NZDJPY · GBPAUD | $6.40 |
| GBPNZD | $6.90 |
Ultra Low account
| Instrument | Cashback / 1 lot |
|---|---|
| BTCUSD | $4.20 |
| Gold (XAUUSD) and most crosses | $3.70 |
| GBPUSD · AUDUSD · EURJPY and similar | $2.70 |
| EURUSD | $1.80 |
| USDJPY | $1.60 |
A worked example
Say you trade Gold on a Standard account:
- Casual trader — 10 lots per month: 10 × $9.00 = $90 back per month, about $1,080 per year.
- Active trader — 2 lots per day, 20 trading days: 40 × $9.00 = $360 back per month, about $4,320 per year.
Put differently: with a Gold spread of roughly $20 per lot, a $9 rebate returns close to half of your spread cost on every single order — win or lose. Over a year of trading, that is the difference between paying full price and trading at a structural discount.
When and where you get paid
Cashback is calculated at the moment each order closes and credited to your XM MyWallet the following day. There is no weekly batch, no invoice, and nothing to claim. From MyWallet you can transfer it to a trading account and trade with it, or withdraw it — no lock-up period, no conditions.
Because the money lands inside your own XM account, you can verify every payout yourself in the XM Members Area. CashBackXM never holds your funds at any point.
Does it change your spreads or execution?
No. An account opened with partner code CBT90 is a normal XM account: the same account types, the same spreads, the same execution, the same regulation. XM does not widen spreads for partner-linked accounts — the cashback comes out of the commission XM pays its partners, not out of your trading conditions.
How to start (about 5 minutes)

Frequently asked questions
How is XM cashback calculated?
It is a fixed dollar amount per closed lot, depending on instrument and account type. On a Standard account, Gold pays $9.00/lot, EURUSD $4.80/lot, GBP crosses $5.30–$6.90/lot. On Ultra Low, Gold pays $3.70/lot and EURUSD $1.80/lot. Calculation is automatic on order close.
When is XM cashback paid?
Cashback is calculated when each order closes and credited to your XM MyWallet the following day — every trading day settles the day after.
Does cashback change my XM spreads or execution?
No. You trade on the same account types, spreads, and execution as any other XM client. Cashback is funded from XM's partner commission, not from a markup on your conditions.
Is there a minimum volume or a cap?
No minimum and no cap. Cashback accrues from 0.01 lot, every eligible order counts, and there is no ceiling on monthly earnings.
I already have an XM account — can I still get cashback?
Yes. In your existing XM Members Area or app, choose “+ Add Account” and enter partner code CBT90 while opening the new account. The new account earns cashback; your existing account is unaffected.
Is XM cashback official?
CashBackXM operates under an official XM partner code (CBT90) inside XM's partner program. Cashback is credited by XM into your own MyWallet — CashBackXM never holds your funds and never has access to your trading account.
