XM Partner Code Not Working? 4 Causes and What to Do About Each
Short answer: when an XM partner code "does not work", it is almost always one of four things: (1) the account was opened without the code, (2) the code was rejected or the Partner Code field did not show, (3) you want to add the code after registering — which XM does not allow in almost every case, or (4) the account is linked to official XM partner code CBT90 but some trades do not qualify, for example trades of 3 minutes or less. Below is what to check for each case, what to ask XM support, and what we can check for you.
The four cases at a glance
| What you see | Most likely cause | Who can confirm it |
|---|---|---|
| No cashback ever, on any trade | Account opened without CBT90 (for example through a direct XM link) | XM support · CashBackXM |
| "Invalid code" message, or no Partner Code field | Typing error, folded field, or the wrong box | XM support |
| You remembered the code after registering | XM attaches the code only when the account is created; the route is a new account via "+ Add Account" | XM support |
| Cashback on some trades, less than expected | Trades that do not qualify under XM's partner terms | CashBackXM |
Case 1: you registered without entering CBT90
This is the most common case. If you opened your account through XM's own website, an app store link or another site's link, and never typed CBT90 in the Partner Code field, the account is not linked to us. No partner commission is generated for CashBackXM, so there is nothing to return to you.
What to check: think back to the registration form. Did you open "Have a Partner Code? Enter here" and type the code? What to ask XM support: "Which partner code, if any, is my trading account registered under?" What we can check: XM's partner platform notifies us when an account is opened with our partner code or link, and lists our clients' trades by MT4/MT5 account number. Send us your account number — never your password — and we will tell you whether it appears under CBT90.
Case 2: the code is rejected or the field is missing
Before you finish the form, check these points:
- Exact spelling. The code is C-B-T followed by the digits 9 and 0. Use capital letters and no spaces. Copy-paste sometimes adds a space at the end.
- The field is folded. On XM's form the Partner Code field can sit behind a small "Have a Partner Code? Enter here" link. Tap it to open the box.
- The right box. The code goes in the Partner Code field, not in a promo or bonus code box.
- Someone else's link. If you reached XM through another website's link, start again in a fresh browser window.
XM assigns your account to one of its companies based on your country of residence. Most CBT90 clients are under XM Global Limited, regulated by the FSC in Belize, and CBT90 can also be used with XM's other entities as XM assigns them. If the form still rejects the code, do not finish registration without it — the code usually cannot be added later. Take a screenshot and ask XM support, then contact us with the same screenshot.
Case 3: you want to add CBT90 after registering
In almost every case, this is not possible. XM attaches the partner code when the trading account is created, and does not normally add or change it afterwards. This is XM's rule for every partner, not a CashBackXM rule.
What to ask XM support: "Can partner code CBT90 be applied to my account?" Their answer is final. We cannot change your account's partner code from our side.
The practical route: log in to the XM Members Area or the XM app, choose "+ Add Account", and enter CBT90 in the Partner Code field while opening the new trading account. The new account earns cashback from its first closed trade. Your existing account is unaffected — balance, positions and history stay where they are. Step by step: changing your XM partner code.
Case 4: linked to CBT90, but cashback is missing or lower
If your account is linked, cashback is paid automatically on closed trades, from 0.01 lot, with no cap and no claim. It arrives in your own XM MyWallet the next day, because XM pays partners daily for the previous day's trading. Open positions do not count until they close.
If a closed trade still shows nothing, the reason is usually one of these. Under XM's partner terms, no partner commission — and so no cashback — is generated for:
- trades lasting 3 minutes or less;
- positions closed with "close by" or "multiple close by";
- trading with no real deposit, such as trading only on a no-deposit bonus;
- trading that XM treats as churning.
If part of your margin is funded by a deposit bonus, cashback is reduced in proportion. Also check that you traded on the account opened with CBT90 — cashback follows the account, not your XM login. Rates also differ by account type: Gold pays $9.00 per lot on Standard and $3.70 per lot on Ultra Low (GOLD#).
| Example: Gold, Standard account | Lots | Cashback |
|---|---|---|
| All closed trades | 10 | 10 × $9.00 = $90.00 |
| Trades held 3 minutes or less (do not count) | 4 | $0 |
| Qualifying trades | 6 | 6 × $9.00 = $54.00 |
The example shows the method only. It is not a forecast. More on short trades is in XM scalping cashback, and on bonuses in XM bonus vs cashback.
What to send when you contact us
- Your MT4/MT5 account number. Never send your password — we do not need it.
- The date of the trades you expected cashback for.
- A screenshot of any error message, if the code was rejected.
- XM support's answer, if you have already asked them.
Message us through the channels in the contact section. We can see whether the account is registered under CBT90 and which trades XM counted. We cannot see or touch your funds.
Getting it right the first time
- Start XM's registration form and open "Have a Partner Code? Enter here".
- Type CBT90 and check it before you continue. Where the field is →
- Finish the account, verify, make a real deposit and trade. Cashback for each qualifying closed lot is credited to your MyWallet the next day.
CashBackXM is an independent cashback service and an official XM partner (code CBT90). We are not XM and never hold your funds; XM credits the cashback directly to your own MyWallet. Trading CFDs on leverage carries a high risk of loss. Cashback lowers your cost per lot but does not change the risk of any trade.
Enter the code once, at registration.
Open your XM account under official XM partner code CBT90 — cashback on every qualifying closed lot, credited to your MyWallet the next day.
XM partner code not working — questions traders ask
Why is my XM partner code not working?
Usually one of four reasons: the account was opened without the code, the code was mistyped or entered in the wrong box, it was added after the account was created, or the account is linked but some trades do not qualify, such as trades of 3 minutes or less.
Can I add partner code CBT90 to my XM account after registering?
Not to the existing account in almost every case — XM attaches the partner code when the account is created; ask XM support to confirm. The practical route is "+ Add Account" in the XM Members Area with CBT90 in the Partner Code field. The new account earns cashback; the existing one is unaffected.
How do I know if my XM account is linked to CBT90?
Ask XM support which partner code your account is registered under, or send CashBackXM your MT4/MT5 account number (never your password). XM's partner reports show us whether the account is under official XM partner code CBT90.
My account is under CBT90. Why did a trade get no cashback?
Under XM's partner terms, trades of 3 minutes or less, positions closed with "close by", trading without a real deposit, and churning generate no partner commission, so no cashback. Bonus-funded margin reduces cashback in proportion.
When should cashback appear in MyWallet?
The day after the trade closes. XM pays partners daily for the previous day's trading, and the cashback goes straight to your own XM MyWallet. Open positions do not count until they are closed.
