XM Bonus vs Cashback — What's the Difference, and Can You Receive Both?

Short answer: yes. An XM bonus is trading credit that XM adds to your account under its own promotion terms — it cannot be withdrawn, only traded with. Cashback from partner code CBT90 is real money: $9 per lot on Gold (Standard account), paid into your XM MyWallet after every closed order, withdrawable, with no end date. They come from two different places, so having one does not cancel the other — but on a trade where bonus credit covers part of the margin, the cashback is reduced in proportion. The details, and the one thing most traders get wrong, are below.

The three things people mean by "XM bonus"

When traders search for an XM bonus they usually mean one of three programmes. They are funded differently, paid differently, and only one of them is cash you can take out.

Bonus and Traders Club figures change by region and by promotion, and XM can amend them. We deliberately do not repeat percentages here — the only numbers you should rely on are the ones on XM's own Promotions page at the moment you deposit. The cashback rates are ours, and they are the same every day.

Can you receive an XM bonus and cashback at the same time?

Yes. They are separate flows of money. A deposit bonus is credit XM adds under that promotion's terms. Partner cashback is paid out of the commission XM already pays to the partner on your account — it is not an XM promotion, it does not sit in XM's bonus terms, and it does not depend on whether a promotion is running — though the bonus-margin rule below still applies. Registering your account under partner code CBT90 does not change your spreads or your account type.

Two honest caveats:

What is always true: as long as the account is registered under CBT90, the cashback keeps arriving on the part of your trading that is backed by your own funds — during a bonus promotion, after it, and when there is none at all.

What about XM's Unlimited Cashback promotion?

XM runs its own cashback-branded promotions from time to time. The most recent one (22 September – 20 October 2026, now ended) covered every asset and Copy Trading, but the cashback only unlocked after $1.2 million of trading volume, stepped up every additional $400,000, and is paid after the promotion closes. It was a volume-milestone campaign, not a per-lot rebate. Partner cashback via CBT90 starts at 0.01 lot and pays the next day. XM's announcement did not mention partner codes either way, so if a future round appears and you plan to rely on both, confirm with XM support that your account qualifies. Details on both 2026 rounds are in our XM Unlimited Cashback Promo guide.

Bonus vs cashback on the same trade — a worked example

Take 1 lot of Gold (XAUUSD) on a Standard account, margined with your own funds and closed in profit or in loss — the result makes no difference to cashback.

Over a month of 20 lots of Gold, that is $180 of cash from cashback alone when the margin comes from your own funds; trades that use bonus credit as margin earn a proportionally smaller amount. Use the cashback calculator to run your own volume and instruments.

Which one should you actually care about?

A deposit bonus is useful once: it gives you more margin on the day you fund the account. A loyalty programme is useful if you trade a lot and remember to redeem. Cashback is the only one of the three that lowers the cost of every trade you place with your own funds, in cash, whether the market goes your way or not. If you trade Gold, $9 back on a spread of roughly $20 per lot is the single biggest, most predictable reduction in trading cost available on an XM account — and it needs no opt-in, no promotion window and no minimum.

How to receive cashback on your XM account

  1. Open an XM trading account (or add one from your existing Members Area with "+ Add Account") and enter CBT90 in the Partner Code field. Step-by-step with screenshots →
  2. Claim any XM bonus you are eligible for from the Members Area, exactly as you would without us.
  3. Trade. Cashback on every closed order is credited to MyWallet the next day; the bonus and XMC follow XM's rules in parallel.

CashBackXM is an independent cashback service and an official XM partner (code CBT90). We are not XM, we never hold your funds, and XM credits the cashback directly to your own MyWallet where you can see every payout.

Keep the bonus. Add the cashback.
Register your XM account under official XM partner code CBT90 — $9/lot on Gold, in cash, on trades margined with your own funds.

XM bonus vs cashback — questions traders ask

Is XM cashback the same as the XM bonus?

No. An XM bonus is trading credit added by XM under a promotion; it cannot be withdrawn. Cashback from partner code CBT90 is cash paid into your MyWallet on every closed order, and you can withdraw it.

Can I get an XM deposit bonus and cashback together?

Yes. The bonus comes from XM's promotion terms, the cashback comes from the partner commission on your account. Registering under CBT90 does not change your spreads or account type. One catch: on trades where bonus credit covers part of the margin, the cashback is reduced in proportion. Each XM promotion also has its own T&C, so check them or ask XM support.

Do I get cashback on trades opened with bonus money?

Partly. XM calculates the partner commission on a trade in proportion to the share of its required margin that came from your own funds, and the cashback follows that commission. If your own money covers half of the margin, the trade earns half the normal cashback. Trading with only a no-deposit bonus earns no cashback until you make a deposit.

What is XM Traders Club and is it cashback?

Traders Club is XM's loyalty programme: you earn XMC points per lot, across five tiers from Bronze to Elite, and redeem them mainly for trading credit. It is not cash per lot. Partner cashback is a fixed cash amount per lot, credited to MyWallet after each trade.

Is XM's Unlimited Cashback promotion better than partner cashback?

They are different. XM's 22 Sep–20 Oct 2026 promotion (now ended) was a volume-milestone campaign: cashback unlocked after $1.2 million of trading volume and is paid after the promotion closes. Partner cashback via CBT90 pays $9 per lot on Gold from the first 0.01 lot, the next day, all year. XM's announcement did not mention partner codes, so for any future round ask XM support if you want to join both.
