XM IB vs Cashback Service — What Is the Difference for Traders?

Short answer: technically, every XM cashback service, including ours, works through the XM partner programme — that is where the cashback comes from. The difference is how it is run. CashBackXM is a cashback service run by a team, operating as an official XM partner under code CBT90, not a personal IB. Our cashback rates are published per instrument on our website and are the same for every client, never negotiated case by case, and XM credits the cashback to your own MyWallet the next day, so you can check every payment yourself.

First, the part that is the same: every cashback service is an XM partner

XM cashback exists because XM pays a commission to the partner who referred your account. XM's partner agreement calls this partner an Introducer. Traders and forums usually say IB (Introducing Broker) or affiliate. It is one role with several names.

Every rebate provider for XM works through this same partner programme — an individual IB, a large rebate website, and CashBackXM. There is no other source of third-party rebates on XM. So the honest question is not "IB or not IB". It is how each provider runs the service: who you deal with, how the rate is set, who pays you and what you can check yourself.

CashBackXM is an official XM partner, and our partner code CBT90 is shown on every page. We are an independent service, not XM. Our income is the remaining part of the partner commission XM pays; we charge the client nothing. The full money flow is in XM cashback explained.

The second column describes what you may find with a typical individual IB. Many IBs serve their clients well. The point of the table is what you can verify on your own.

What "the same rate for everyone" means — and what it does not

It means: the rate published for each instrument is the rate every CBT90 client gets. Nobody gets a private deal, and no rate is adjusted for one person.

It does not mean the rate never changes. The cashback comes from the partner commission XM pays. If XM changes that commission, the rates on our site change for every client at the same time, and the published table always shows the current figures.

It also does not mean every trade earns cashback. XM's partner terms apply to every partner equally. XM pays no partner commission — so there is no cashback — on:

If part of your margin comes from a deposit bonus, the cashback is reduced in proportion. When a trade earns nothing, this is the reason — we do not adjust anyone's cashback. Scalping rules are covered in XM scalping cashback.

What we do not do

Cashback lowers your cost per lot. It is not income, and it does not change the risk of any trade. Trading more just to collect cashback is a poor reason to trade — and churning earns nothing under XM's terms anyway.

How to check any provider yourself

Ask these five questions of any IB or rebate service, including us:

  1. Are the rates published? Look for a fixed $ per lot for each instrument, not an "up to" figure.
  2. Who credits the money? XM inside your MyWallet, or the provider from their own account?
  3. Who holds your funds? Nobody but you and XM should. Never share your XM password.
  4. What else is being sold? Signals, courses, VIP groups or account management change the relationship.
  5. Can you check payments daily? You should be able to match closed lots with credits yourself.

CashBackXM is an independent cashback service and an official XM partner (code CBT90). We are not XM and never hold your funds; XM credits the cashback directly to your own MyWallet. Trading CFDs on leverage carries a high risk of loss. Cashback lowers your cost per lot but does not change the risk of any trade.

XM IB vs cashback service — questions traders ask

Is CashBackXM an IB?

CashBackXM works through the XM partner programme, like every XM cashback service. XM's agreement calls the partner an Introducer, and traders often say IB. The difference is how it is run: CashBackXM is a cashback service run by a team as an official XM partner (code CBT90), not a personal IB, with published rates and cashback credited by XM to your own MyWallet.

Why is the CashBackXM rate the same for everyone?

Because the rates are published per instrument on the website and are never negotiated or adjusted case by case. If XM changes the partner commission, the published rates change for every client at the same time. XM's partner terms, such as no cashback on trades of 3 minutes or less, apply to everyone equally.

Can an IB change my rebate later?

With a private arrangement, some IBs may adjust, delay or stop a rebate, and there may be nothing written to refer back to. With CashBackXM, your rate is the one in the public rates table, the same for every client; if XM changes the commission, the table changes for everyone at once. XM credits the cashback to your MyWallet the next day, so you can check every payment yourself.

Do I pay anything for the CashBackXM service?

No. There is no sign-up fee and nothing is deducted from your account. CashBackXM's income is the remaining part of the partner commission XM pays; the client is charged nothing. Your spreads and trading conditions are the same as on any XM account of that type.

How can I check which partner my XM account is under?

Ask XM support — they can tell you. You can also send your XM account number to the CashBackXM Facebook Page, and the team can check its partner report. Partner reports show account numbers and trading volume only, with no passwords and no access to funds.

Can I move from my current IB to CashBackXM?

In almost every case, an existing XM account cannot be moved to a new partner code — ask XM support about your account. Existing XM clients can open an additional account with official XM partner code CBT90 through + Add Account in the XM Members Area.
