XM IB Rebate for Traders — How It Works and What to Check
Short answer: an XM IB rebate is part of the commission XM pays a partner (an IB, or "Introducer" in XM's terms) for your trading, returned to you per lot. It is the same thing as XM cashback. As a trader you do not register as an IB — you open your XM account with a partner's code, and that partner shares the commission with you. Before you choose one, check three things: is the rate published per instrument, who pays you and where, and does anyone ask to hold your money or your password.
IB, Introducer, affiliate, partner — one role, four names at XM
At XM, these four words describe the same role: someone who refers traders to XM and receives a commission from XM for their trading volume. XM's partner agreement calls this role an Introducer. Traders and forums usually say IB (Introducing Broker). Websites often say affiliate or partner.
Every XM cashback or rebate service works through this partner programme — including ours. That is where the money comes from. CashBackXM is a cashback service run by a team, operating as an official XM partner under code CBT90, not a personal IB. More terms are defined in the XM cashback glossary.
Where the rebate money comes from
The word "commission" means two different things at XM, and mixing them up causes most of the confusion:
| Partner commission | Trading commission | |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays whom? | XM pays the partner | The trader pays XM |
| What is it for? | Referring an account that trades | A fee per trade that the trader pays XM |
| Link to the rebate | It is the source of every rebate | None — Micro, Standard and Ultra Low charge no trading commission |
An IB rebate is a share of the partner commission, passed back to you per lot. It is not added to your costs, and your spreads stay the same as on any other XM account of that type. The rebate lowers your cost per lot; it does not change whether a trade wins or loses. The money flow step by step is in XM cashback explained.
You do not join the partner programme — you open an account with a partner's code
To receive a rebate you do not sign up as an IB, sign a partner agreement or bring in other traders. The partner programme is built for people who refer clients. As a trader, you only need your XM account to be linked to a partner's code when you open it.
Example with official XM partner code CBT90:
- Open a new XM account and enter CBT90 in the partner code field. Step-by-step guide →
- Verify the account and make a real deposit.
- Trade as usual. XM credits the rebate for each closed lot to your own MyWallet the next day, automatically, from 0.01 lot with no cap.
Already an XM client? Moving an existing account to a new partner code is, in almost every case, not possible — ask XM support (see changing your XM partner code). One option is to open an additional account with CBT90 through "+ Add Account" in the XM Members Area.
Individual IB vs a cashback service run by a team
Both work through the same XM partner programme. The difference is how the arrangement is run and what you can check yourself:
| Question | Typical individual IB | CashBackXM (code CBT90) |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it? | Often one person reached over private chat | A team with a public website in 12 languages, operating since 2025 |
| Is the partner code shown? | May not be disclosed | Official XM partner code CBT90 on every page |
| Where are the terms? | Agreed person by person | Published per instrument, for Standard and Ultra Low |
| Is the rate the same for everyone? | May be adjusted or paused, with nothing to refer back to | Yes — the published rate, never negotiated per client |
"The same for everyone" does not mean the rate can never change. Rates come from the partner commission XM pays; if XM changes it, the rates on our site change for every client at the same time. Our income is the remaining part of that partner commission — we charge you nothing. The full comparison is on XM IB vs cashback service.
What to check before choosing any IB or rebate service
Three things decide whether a rebate is worth having: is the rate published as a fixed dollar amount per lot and instrument (some IBs may quote a percentage or an "up to" figure instead — ours are in the rates table), who pays you and where (with CashBackXM, XM credits your own MyWallet the next day), and whether your money stays in your own XM account — never share your XM password with anyone.
The full point-by-point comparison, including what some IBs may sell on top of the rebate, is on XM IB vs cashback service; how to verify any provider is in is XM cashback legit?
Which trades earn no rebate under XM's partner terms
A rebate exists only when XM pays a partner commission on the trade. XM's partner terms apply to every partner in the same way, so these trades earn no rebate with any IB or service:
- Trades that last 3 minutes or less.
- Positions closed with "close by" or "multiple close by".
- Trading on a no-deposit bonus without a real deposit.
- Churning — trading only to generate volume.
If part of your margin comes from a deposit bonus, the rebate is reduced in proportion. Rates and payout details are on XM forex rebate; short-trade rules are in XM scalping cashback.
CashBackXM is an independent cashback service and an official XM partner (code CBT90). We are not XM and never hold your funds; XM credits the cashback directly to your own MyWallet. Trading CFDs on leverage carries a high risk of loss. Cashback lowers your cost per lot but does not change the risk of any trade.
A published rebate, the same for every client.

XM IB rebate — questions traders ask
What is an XM IB?
An XM IB (Introducing Broker) is a partner who refers traders to XM and receives a commission from XM for their trading volume. XM's partner agreement calls this role an Introducer; websites also say affiliate or partner. Every XM cashback service, including CashBackXM, works through this partner programme.
Is an IB rebate the same as XM cashback?
Yes. An IB rebate, XM cashback and backcom all mean part of the partner commission XM pays, returned to the trader per closed lot. It is separate from XM's own bonuses and promotions.
Do I need to register as an IB to get a rebate?
No. You only open your XM account with a partner's code, for example official XM partner code CBT90. You do not need to register as an IB to receive a rebate through a partner's code.
Can an IB see my trades or my money?
CashBackXM sees partner reports with account numbers and trading volume only. We have no password and no access to your funds. That depends on the provider. Some IBs may also offer to manage your account; never share your XM password with anyone.
How much is the XM IB rebate?
It depends on the provider. CashBackXM publishes a fixed rate per lot for each instrument, for Standard and Ultra Low accounts, the same for every client. For example, Gold on a Standard account is $9.00 per lot. Every rate is in the rates table on the CashBackXM home page.
What if my XM account is already under another IB?
In almost every case an existing account cannot be moved to a new partner code — ask XM support, who can also tell you which partner your account is under. Existing clients may open an additional account with code CBT90 through + Add Account.
