XM Account Types — Which One Earns More Cashback per Lot?
Short answer: XM Global offers five account types — Standard, Micro, Ultra Low Standard, Ultra Low Micro and Shares. There is no Zero account on XM Global. Per lot, the Standard account earns more cashback than Ultra Low under official XM partner code CBT90: $9.00 on Gold, against $3.70 on GOLD# in Ultra Low. Micro uses the Standard rate table, scaled to its smaller lot. Standard, Micro and Ultra Low charge no trading commission — your cost is in the spread.
XM account types at a glance
The list below is what XM Global (XM Global Limited, regulated by the FSC in Belize) offers when you open an account. Other XM entities may offer a different list — for example, a commission-based Zero account exists at some XM entities, but not on XM Global.
| Account type | 1 lot (Forex) | Spread style | Trading commission | Cashback table (CBT90) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 100,000 units | Standard spread | None | Standard table |
| Micro | 1,000 units | Standard spread | None | Standard table, scaled to the Micro lot |
| Ultra Low Standard | 100,000 units | Narrower spread | None | Ultra Low table (symbols end with #) |
| Ultra Low Micro | 1,000 units | Narrower spread | None | Not published — ask us |
| Shares | See XM | Own conditions | See XM | Not published — ask us |
Minimum deposit, leverage and the full conditions of each account are set by XM and can change. Check them on XM's own account-types page before you open one.
How much cashback does each account type earn?
Cashback is a fixed amount per lot of closed volume. The rate depends on the account type and the instrument. Examples for accounts opened with partner code CBT90:
| Instrument | Standard (per lot) | Ultra Low Standard (per lot) |
|---|---|---|
| GOLD (XAUUSD) / GOLD# | $9.00 | $3.70 |
| EURUSD / EURUSD# | $4.80 | $1.80 |
| BTCUSD / BTCUSD# | $10.60 | $4.20 |
Micro: uses the Standard table, scaled to the Micro lot. One Micro lot of EURUSD is 1,000 units — the same volume as 0.01 standard lot — so it earns $4.80 × 0.01 = $0.048. Ultra Low Micro and Shares: we do not publish rates for these accounts. Ask us before you trade on them. Every published pair is on the full rates table.
Which XM account earns more cashback per lot?
Per lot, Standard earns more than Ultra Low on every instrument that appears in both tables — on Gold, EURUSD and BTCUSD, between two and three times more. The reason: cashback is a share of the partner commission XM pays, and under XM's partner terms that commission depends on the account type.
More cashback per lot does not automatically mean a lower total cost. On Ultra Low you pay a narrower spread and get less cashback back; on Standard it is the other way round. Which one is cheaper depends on the instrument and on the live spreads when you trade. We compare the two instrument by instrument in XM Standard vs Ultra Low cashback.
Worked example: 20 lots of Gold in a month earns $180 on Standard (20 × $9.00) or $74 on Ultra Low (20 × $3.70). This illustrates how volume adds up; it is not a forecast. Try your own numbers in the cashback calculator.
Commission: two different things
"Commission" means two things on XM, and they are easy to mix up:
- Trading commission is a fee a trader pays XM per trade. Standard, Micro and Ultra Low charge none. The cost is built into the spread.
- Partner commission is what XM pays a partner for the volume its clients trade. Your cashback is a share of this. It is the partner commission — not your trading cost — that is lower on Ultra Low.
Cashback does not change your spread or trading conditions. You get the same account as any other XM client of that type.
Ultra Low Micro, Shares and swap-free accounts
Ultra Low Micro combines the 1,000-unit lot with the narrower Ultra Low spread. Shares is a separate account for share trading with its own conditions. Neither appears on our published rate tables, so contact us for the current position before you rely on cashback from them.
XM also offers a swap-free (Islamic) option on its accounts. It is an account setting, not a separate account type. This page does not cover cashback on swap-free accounts — ask us if this applies to you.
What does not earn cashback on any account
Under XM's partner terms, some volume generates no partner commission, so it earns no cashback on any account type:
- Trades that last 3 minutes or less.
- Positions closed with "close by" or "multiple close by".
- Churning (trading mainly to generate volume).
If part of your margin is funded by an XM bonus, cashback is reduced in proportion. Everything else counts from 0.01 lot, with no cap, and is credited to your XM MyWallet the day after the trade closes — no claim needed.

XM account types — questions traders ask
What account types does XM offer?
XM Global offers Standard, Micro, Ultra Low Standard, Ultra Low Micro and Shares accounts. There is no Zero account on XM Global; a Zero account exists only at some other XM entities.
Which XM account type earns more cashback per lot?
Standard. Under partner code CBT90 it earns $9.00 per lot on Gold, $4.80 on EURUSD and $10.60 on BTCUSD, against $3.70, $1.80 and $4.20 on Ultra Low. Ultra Low has a narrower spread, so compare total cost, not cashback alone.
Does the XM Micro account earn cashback?
Yes. Micro uses the Standard rate table, scaled to its 1,000-unit lot. One Micro lot of EURUSD is the same volume as 0.01 standard lot, so it earns $0.048. Cashback starts from 0.01 lot with no cap.
Do XM Standard, Micro or Ultra Low accounts charge commission?
No. None of them charges a trading commission; the cost is in the spread. The cashback comes from the separate partner commission that XM pays to partners such as CashBackXM.
Do Ultra Low Micro and Shares accounts earn cashback?
We do not publish rates for Ultra Low Micro or Shares accounts. Contact CashBackXM before you trade on them so you know what to expect.
Can I move my existing XM account to code CBT90?
In almost every case, no. XM normally does not change the partner on an existing account. Ask XM support to confirm for your account.
