Is XM Regulated? XM Entities, Licence Numbers and What It Means for Your Cashback
Short answer: yes. XM is not one company but a group of companies, and each one holds a licence from the financial regulator in its own jurisdiction. Most traders who open an account with official XM partner code CBT90 are with XM Global Limited, regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Belize under licence number 8557558. Which XM company holds your account depends on your country, and you can check its licence yourself in a few minutes. Your cashback does not depend on the regulator — it depends on the account being linked to CBT90.
Which XM companies are regulated, and by whom?
XM Group has operated since 2009. Its client-facing companies are members of the Trading Point Group, and each one is licensed separately. The table lists the companies named in XM's own legal notices on xm.com when we checked them on 10 October 2026:
| XM company | Regulator | Licence / reference |
|---|---|---|
| XM Global Limited | Financial Services Commission (FSC), Belize | 8557558 |
| Trading Point of Financial Instruments Limited | Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) | Check the licence number on the regulator's public register |
| Trading Point MENA Limited | Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) | Check the licence number on the regulator's public register |
| XM ZA (Pty) Ltd | Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), South Africa | Check the licence number on the regulator's public register |
XM ZA serves South African residents only and acts as an intermediary: XM states that the derivative products are supplied by XM Global Limited. XM's legal notices also name further group companies in other jurisdictions. Entities and licences can change, so treat XM's regulation page and the regulator's own register as the final word — not this page or any other affiliate site.
Which XM entity are CBT90 clients usually with?
Most traders who register with official XM partner code CBT90 are with XM Global Limited (FSC Belize). CBT90 can also be used with other XM companies when XM assigns one for your country. We cannot promise which entity you will get: XM decides it from your country of residence during registration. If you are unsure, ask XM support or contact us before you open the account.
How to check an XM licence yourself
- Find your entity's legal name. It appears in your client agreement, on the account-opening form and in the legal text at the bottom of the xm.com page you are shown. It should be a full company name such as "XM Global Limited", not just "XM".
- Open the regulator's own website by typing the address yourself — for example fscbelize.bz (Belize), cysec.gov.cy (Cyprus), dfsa.ae (Dubai) or fsca.co.za (South Africa). Do not follow links from ads or private messages.
- Search the public register for the company name or licence number, and check that the status is active.
- Compare the details. The company name, licence number and website domain listed by the regulator should match what XM shows you. A mismatch is a warning sign of a clone site.
What changes from one XM entity to another
The regulator sets the rules your account is held under. Some things differ by entity; others do not:
| Item | Depends on the XM entity? |
|---|---|
| Regulator, licence and complaint route | Yes |
| Maximum leverage | Yes — the XM Global form offers up to 1000:1; other regulators can set lower limits |
| Account types | Yes — XM Global offers Standard, Micro, Ultra Low Standard, Ultra Low Micro and Shares; a Zero account exists only at XM's EU entity |
| Bonuses and promotions | Yes — eligibility varies by entity |
| Who pays your cashback | No — XM credits it to your own MyWallet |
| Whether you get cashback | No — it depends on the account being linked to CBT90 |
Investor protections such as compensation schemes and leverage caps are set by each regulator. Read your client agreement and the regulator's rules for your entity. Leverage is covered in XM leverage explained, and account types in XM account types and cashback.
Does regulation affect your cashback?
No. Cashback comes from the commission XM pays its partners under XM's partner terms, and XM credits your share directly to your MyWallet the next day. The licence of your entity does not change that. What matters is that the account was registered under official XM partner code CBT90. Your spreads and trading conditions stay the same. Sample rates:
| Symbol (account) | Cashback per lot |
|---|---|
| GOLD / XAUUSD (Standard) | $9.00 |
| EURUSD (Standard) | $4.80 |
| GOLD# (Ultra Low) | $3.70 |
| EURUSD# (Ultra Low) | $1.80 |
Every symbol is on the full rates table. If you are not sure which XM entity your account sits under, check your XM Members Area or ask XM support — and ask us if you want to confirm your account is linked to CBT90. Under XM's partner terms, some trades earn no cashback in any entity: trades lasting 3 minutes or less, trades closed with "close by", and trading on a no-deposit bonus. When part of your margin comes from a bonus, cashback is reduced in proportion.
Regulation tells you who holds your account and which rules apply. It does not tell you whether XM, or any broker, fits your trading — that decision is yours. For how partner cashback itself is checked, see is XM cashback legit?

Is XM regulated? — questions traders ask
Is XM a regulated broker?
Yes. XM operates through several companies, each licensed by a financial regulator. XM's legal notices name the FSC of Belize, CySEC in Cyprus, the DFSA in Dubai and the FSCA in South Africa. Which one covers your account depends on your country.
Who regulates XM Global?
XM Global Limited is regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Belize under the Securities Industry Act 2021, licence number 8557558, according to xm.com on 10 October 2026. Most traders using official XM partner code CBT90 are with this entity.
How do I know which XM entity my account is with?
Check the company name in your client agreement, on the account-opening form or in the legal text at the bottom of the xm.com page you see. XM assigns the entity from your country of residence. If it is unclear, ask XM support.
How can I verify XM's licence?
Type the regulator's website address yourself, search its public register for the company name or licence number, and check that the name, number and website domain match what XM shows you.
Does my XM entity affect my cashback?
Cashback depends on the account being linked to official XM partner code CBT90, not on the regulator. XM credits it to your MyWallet the next day. If you are not sure which XM entity your account sits under, check your XM Members Area or ask XM support — and ask us if you want to confirm your account is linked to CBT90.
Is CashBackXM regulated?
CashBackXM is not a broker. It does not take deposits, hold client money or execute trades. It is an independent official XM partner; the regulated party is the XM company that holds your account and credits your cashback.
