Why the crosses pay more than the majors
Cashback is a share of the partner commission XM pays on your trading, and that commission is funded by the spread. Cross pairs such as GBPNZD or EURNZD trade on wider spreads than EURUSD, so XM's partner commission on them is higher, and so is the cashback. The rate is fixed per lot for each group, so you always know in advance what a trade returns: a 1-lot GBPNZD trade is $6.90 back whether the spread that day was wide or narrow.
What the cashback is worth in pips
On a USD-quoted pair (EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD) one pip on a standard lot is worth about $10. That gives a quick way to read the table:
- EURUSD $4.80 ≈ 0.48 pip back on every lot — on a spread of around 1.0–1.6 pips on the Standard account, that is a large share of the round-trip cost returned.
- GBPUSD $5.30 ≈ 0.53 pip back per lot.
- NZDUSD $5.30 ≈ 0.53 pip back per lot.
For pairs quoted in other currencies (USDJPY, EURJPY, GBPCHF…) the dollar value of a pip moves with the exchange rate, but the cashback stays fixed in dollars — $4.80, $5.30 or $6.40 per lot.
Standard or Ultra Low for Forex?
This is the one area where Ultra Low can win. The cashback gap on EURUSD is $3.00 per lot (=0.3 pip). If XM's live EURUSD# spread on Ultra Low is more than 0.3 pip tighter than the Standard EURUSD spread at the times you trade, Ultra Low costs you less overall even with the smaller cashback; if the gap is under 0.3 pip, Standard plus $4.80 wins. Scalpers who trade during peak liquidity often find Ultra Low ahead; swing traders holding for days usually do not notice the spread and are better paid on Standard. The full decision method is in Standard vs Ultra Low cashback, and you can hold both account types under one login.
Worked example — a month of Forex trading
| Monthly volume | Standard cashback | Ultra Low cashback |
|---|---|---|
| 10 lots EURUSD | $48.00 | $18.00 |
| 10 lots GBPUSD | $53.00 | $27.00 |
| 5 lots GBPNZD | $34.50 | — (GBPNZD# is not in the published Ultra Low table; check the live rate table) |
| Total | $135.50 | $45.00 + GBPNZD# |

XM Forex cashback — questions traders ask
How much cashback does XM pay on EURUSD?
$4.80 per standard lot on a Standard or Micro account, and $1.80 per lot on EURUSD# on an Ultra Low account, with partner code CBT90. That is about 0.48 pip returned per lot on Standard.
Which Forex pair pays the highest XM cashback?
GBPNZD at $6.90 per lot on the Standard account, followed by the $6.40 group (GBPAUD, EURCHF, EURNZD, GBPCAD, GBPCHF, NZDJPY). Cross pairs pay more because their wider spread funds a larger partner commission.
Do I get Forex cashback on losing trades?
Yes. Cashback is calculated on the closed volume of every eligible order regardless of its result, and credited to your XM MyWallet the next day.
Is Ultra Low better for Forex cashback?
Ultra Low pays less cashback ($1.60–$2.70 vs $4.80–$6.90 per lot) but has a tighter spread. On EURUSD the cashback gap is $3.00 per lot, about 0.3 pip: if the Ultra Low spread is more than 0.3 pip tighter at your trading times, Ultra Low costs less overall; otherwise Standard wins.
Is there a cap on XM Forex cashback?
No. It starts at 0.01 lot and there is no upper limit; 100 lots of EURUSD in a month is $480 on Standard.
